    Default The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008)

From the beloved best-selling series of books comes "The Spiderwick Chronicles," a fantasy adventure for the child in all of us. Peculiar things start to happen the moment the Grace family (Jared, his twin brother Simon, sister Mallory and their mom) leave New York and move into the secluded old house owned by their great, great uncle Arthur Spiderwick.....

I watched this one last night, enjoyed it enough to say it's worthy of a rent or a buy if your a fan of fantasy fiction. It's a very strange film really. It's aim is very much a "family film" but in all honesty I don't know if I'd let younger children watch this. They've done a fantastic job on the CGI in the film, so much so that the Ogre is maybe a little TOO evil looking for a young audience.. one of those ones where you know the kids would sit through and watch-then promptly have nightmares after in bed if you get me. Other than that the story was well woven and the film is very well crafted.

Film aside having watched this on blu-ray the picture particularly is extremely vivid, a really nice picture in general and detailing was superb. (Expect to see some shots pop up in the pj shots thread sometime put it that way.. )

    3 stars, "GOOD"..

i thought for just shy of £7 then it was very good value for money at amazon, I don't think I'd have payed full price for it though. Will watch it again though further down the road quit happily, that to me automatically makes it a worthwhile buy. Glad the kids enjoyed it, did wonder how the younger folk would fare with it.
