    Default Orphanage

Haven't posted for a while. So busy with some projects..
Anyway managed to dust down the projector and watch Guillermo Del Toro's The Orphanage.

Creepy supernatural film with some very tense, edge of your seat moments. The pacing was very good keeping you locked in for the whole length. Could've finished about 5 mins sooner for a darker finish.

If you like ghost stories watch this.....

  2. Thanks.

Unfortunately, for those who do not like such films, its subtitled.

If you did perservere its worth watching.

Not in the same league as the Haunting. Not great but not bad.

Sorry, but this urinates over the Haunting from a great height! Decent creepy bits, and a very well told story, and good use of audio - sounds amazing on a good system. Del Toro and Juan Antonio Bayona have come up with a real gem here, setting the bar for the genre. It just gets better the more you watch it too. One of the best films of the year - even the missus loved it, and she hated subtitled movies at the time.

I'm tempted to get this just to scare the **** out of the Misses.
Not sure about the subs though, if its not intensive and lets the film flow then it should be ok, as long as it doesn't distract from the main film at all.

    Anyone else seen this one?

Got it in my collection Kev, the films not a heavy haunting type movie like Poltergiest for example, it's more slow burning in a similar way to something like Pan's Labyrinth is. I like it but I lent this out to a mate and he didn't even get 15 minutes into it before shutting it off.
