Hmmm. Richard at AV Sales has recommended the Tech+Link 133 strand wire as suitable for my planned system. I wouldn't say it is expensive either - £1.68 +VAT per meter.

Problem is how much difference would £5/m speaker wire make?

I need 25 metres of the stuff ,more if I bi-wire the front pair, or wire ahead for 7.1

    Cheers

My current stuff is unbranded but it is certainly smaller than the Tech+Link wire. Mine is 42 strands per terminal (3mmx3mm, or total 3mm x 6mm), and this is an area that does concern me - planned fairly high end equipment, and I am worried that the speaker wire might not quite do it justice!! Would I really notice the difference?

    Cheers

I think I will review my speaker wire options!

Once the wire is under the wood floor, it'll be hard to remove it and replace it with an upgraded wire!!

I initally used QED custom install speaker cable (the type that is smoke free) until I ran out and B&Q's best 79 Strand went in everywhere else. When I ran the first fix in I used 250m of speaker cable and 400m of Cat5e plus around 200m of coax CT100. and not a scart lead in sight. The wife questioned (as they do) why I needed to run 6 strands of coax from the hub to the outside access point, I replied: 2 for Sky HD, 1 for FM, 1 for Freeview and 2 spare reserved for future use. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and I wished I ran 2 lengths of CT100 coax to the family room instead of one.

Call me a cynic but that van Damme Blue cable is just 2 core electrical flex. I'll sell you 2.5mm 3 core blue flex at £1.20/m and that 3rd core once earthed at one end will prevent any induced emf and interference from affecting the sound quality. Or if you don't trust me you can buy it from http://www.allaboutelectrics.co.uk/d...100M_BLUE.html
at 82p/m. where you can get it in white and yellow also. If you are wondering why my cable is 38p/m dearer it's because I get a disco girl to do some magic over it before I send it out to you.
