I’ve had some trouble with HDMI CEC, and wonder if it’s worth getting HDMI v1.3a or higher to make sure CEC works. I use cheap Fisual HDMI v1.3 leads bought online, and am happy with the build quality.
My Pana BD60 and PS3 are connected to my Sony HTSS360 amp via 0.75m HDMI, and then a 1.5m HDMI to the Sony W4500 LCD.
One touch play works so far as to switch TV inputs and turn on BD player/PS3, but it will not bring the amp out of standby. However if I switch the amp on manually, it has no problem detecting the right input.
I tried a second Fisual 1.5m lead from amp to TV, and the amp did come out of standby using one touch control, but it had selected the wrong input. This was the only time I’ve seen the amp follow suit.
Reading online I see that all versions of HDMI have CEC, with v1.3a getting additional audio commands according to Wkiki. I’m in two minds about buying some reasonable v1.3a leads as I have had hiccups with my panel leading me to think it’s the TV at fault.
The amp often mutes itself at first, with me having to switch it off then on again, but fine without CEC. As for the TV, the HDMI list will some days be incorrect, disappear altogether, or I might get a quick error msg while loading a BD.
