I'm possibly glad i don't know if i have any problems with my accustics I don't know if i need something else to bug me.

What i do know is that my new set up sounded better than in my old place, even with the same kit, so how it does change things would be interesting...
one thing i have done different this time is not go down the oak flooring i did last time but had carpet fitted, does that help and does as i have heard people say that soft furnishings also help.... in a way i hope you say no, otherwise my wife will be Cushion shopping in the Next catalogue again

carpet will reduce the reverberation time of the room slightly, depending on the thickness etc, it also stops direct reflections from the floor in the higher frequencies, so you lose some top end. is the new room bigger or smaller than the old?

Cheers matty..... i reckon It's probably just a tiny bit bigger, but the extension part of the room imo must change the sound somehow, as my 4 surrounds are confined in that area, so i don't know if the sound, albeit relatively small can escape that end much :god:

I have seen on some HC Diy threads that Subs have been put onto a Marble type Slab, would that be a good idea on carpet seems my Sub has twin down firing Cones ??

Would you use a marble slab on a wooden floor? I have heard a lot of folks using marble chopping boards to stand speakers on.

The sub I am probably going to use is the SVS SB10+ which doesn't fire downwards. Would you put this on a marble slab?

What about the floor standers - spikes on wooden floor or spikes on the a marble slab, on the floor?

My floor will be laid on an existing concrete floor, so there is no void below the wooden floor.

    Cheers

what your trying to do is to isolate the sub from the structure, as the base is concrete you can get away with just using spikes i think

Cool. The chopping boards arecheap any how, so its not a huge cost. I might still get some, put felt on the back and keep the spikes from marking the wooden floor!

    Cheers
