    Default Hi all

Hi all, decided to google ‘home cinema forum’ and found this site, wondered what other forums are out there other than the one I’m a member of.

As my disability means I’m no longer very active, I’ve found myself catching the av bug big time. I guess it keeps me going as I enjoy movies at least. Bought my 1st lcd, a kdl-40w4500(Bravia sync no longer works) last oct, then a ps3 for x-mas, and now I’ve added a ht-ddwg800 receiver for hd audio.

Been testing discs to see what hd surround is like, and tweaking my system. So far, so good, the sound has been excellent. For the first time I hardly need to touch the vol during a film.

Welcome to the site fmbn, good kit list you've got there..

Know what you mean about the sound levels, I remember the days of having to clutch the flaming remote all the while during a film when the levels used to dip and jump all over the shop. Thank god for modern systems and decent film transfers!

If you have any problems/questions etc mate then feel free to ask away, all the guys on the forum know they're stuff and there's not one member here that'll ridicule any "beginner" for not knowing something. We're here to help each other at the end of the day..

Off the top of my head I like black comedies (Fargo, The Big Lewbowski), Horror (The Thing, 30 days of Night) Sci Fi (Blade Runner, the Matrix), Action (Bourne Trilogy, Saving Private Ryan, The Dark Knight)

And classics such as the Third man, Experiment in Terror, Night of the Hunter and Seven Samurai. Would love to see those on BD.

I’ve been impressed by the pic quality of older films like The Thing and Blade Runner. Looking forward to the directors cut of Watchmen this month.
