    Default Sony Str-da3400es

The Sony str-da3400es is now at 3 retailers.

Wondered if anyone has placed an order for one yet?

It would of certainly been on a short list for me, if i hadn't upgraded to my Onkyo at Christmas....... my last amp before my my Onkyo was a 1200ES and that was a Superb bit of Kit..... the 3400 is going to be a Cracker

When are you ordering One ??

I'm waiting until the dust settles to see what other people have to say about it.

I'd like to order it as soon as possible.

I don't like the fact that in N. America they get a 5 year warranty on ES receivers and the Sony tel. no. is free call.

Because we can't get satellite radio it should be cheaper over here although it is subscription based. On the str-da2400es UK model they also took out the serial port, I'm wondering if they'll do the same with the str-da3400es.

Sony receivers always seem to have bugs in them and in N. America Sony did a fast exchange program for the 5300 and 3300 to fix the black crush.

It's even worst with the new 5400 as they have also removed the av over cat cable.

Adding to insult we pay more and when I say pay more I also mean that after it's been out a while it goes down in price in N. America but over hear prices stay the same.

Look at the Denon avr 3808, it's gone up £200 in price and it's been out over a year now, Stateside it's gone down to around £600.

    Hopefully soon.

I just made a post and it didn't like it. It keeps saying that the post I made is a duplicate of one I've already made and yet the first post is not even there.

Strange, A Mod. has to approve it.

Don't know what happened there, but the said post is up now.

There are 3 stores advertising the str-da3400es. One store wants £699, the other two want £649. - It turns out the other two stores are the same store.

hcs direct and multizone av - the same store with their 0870 numbers.

hifi confidential - £699. say in stock - also 0870

Best to wait until other stores have it, chances are they don't even have it.

I won't bother with any shop that uses 0870 - it's bad enough we pay a lot more than to be insulted by us paying premium per minute for the call - We'll just check if we have stock Sir, please hold, irritating music - meanwhile they get the kettle on for a cuppa.

    Yep.

Sony are late at getting their amps out when Denon, Pioneer, Harman Kardon and Onkyo have had theirs out for a while now. Yamaha, Marantz and upper models from Pioneers will be out soon.

All the other brands other better warranties in the UK as well.

I have been seriouly considering the str-da3400es but I may have to look elsewhere. Think I can wait a few more weeks.

I had a Sony DB930 but the left speaker stopped working, after getting the back off and having a look around I took some of the circuit boards out. Ended of with a table full of boards, wires and screws. I binned it in the end. I've been without an amp for nearly a year now and I am getting desperate.

Sony seem to have been lagging behind for two or three years now imo... they have some great ideas, and when the kit arrives it is some of the best !! BUT it is usually later than Onkyo and the like as you say.... I wonder why - Blu-ray players was a prime example - what are they on
