my av receiver optical sockets (at back of unit) have been damaged accidentally. So I arranged for the unit to be returned to Hughes Electrical (from who I bought it) and they sent it back to denon engineers.
Hughes electrical have had it now returned back to them and have been informed that these can not be repaired under the one year warranty as the damage has been caused by me (rather than a fault developing). phoned up hughes to discuss this and they read the report from denon to me over the phone saying that the cables I bought seemingly are not the right size for the sockets (these are optical cables). it can be repaired but will cost over 200 quid (and i can get a 7.1 receiver for 279 quid online.)
so therefore is it worth me contacting denon and claiming that this could also be attributed to a design flaw and seeing if i can persuade them to get it repaired, or buy a replacement elsewhere.
the cables on the current unit have to be held in place by a sticking agent (blu-tac) and even then are very sensitive!!
sorry for long post.
